Dr Gabrielle Campbell leads a new MRFF funded project drawing on her expertise in pain management and alcohol and other drug treatment
NCYSUR Senior Research Fellow awarded MRFF Alcohol and Other Drugs grant
Dr Gabrielle Campbell is the lead investigator on the MRFF funded project 'The feasibility, acceptability and impact of integrating an online pain management course into alcohol and other drug residential rehabilitation services'.
Chronic pain and substance use disorders are among the most prevalent, debilitating, and costly health conditions globally. However, there have been few attempts to manage both conditions in parallel. The study will use a mixed methods approach to codesign an optimal implementation strategy and assess the feasibility and acceptability of integrating an established online, clinician-assisted pain management program into alcohol and other drug residential services.
Investigators include NCYSUR Deputy Director Professor Leanne Hides, Research Fellow Dr Nina Pocuca, NHMRC Emerging Leadership fellow Dr Carmen Lim, Director Professor Jason Connor, Affiliate Dr Zoe Walter, Senior Research Assistant and PhD candidate Ms Sophia Glasgow and Emeritus Professor Wayne Hall at the University of Queensland; Scientia Professor Louisa Degenhardt, Associate Professor Julia Lappin, Professor Amanda Baker and Dr Robert Stirling at UNSW, Dr Briony Larance at the University of Wollongong, and collaborators from Macquarie University and University of New Mexico.
Congratulations Gab!
