Catch up on NDRI and NDARC webinar recordings, including ‘special event’ with Steve Allsop and Michael Farrell
National centres collaborate to share research findings and insights
Two internationally-respected leaders in alcohol and other drug (AOD) research shared insights and lessons from decades working in the field as part of a special event featuring former NDRI Director Professor Steve Allsop and retiring NDARC Director Professor Michael Farrell, who have both worked in the AOD field in Australia since the 1980s.
In the conversation-style event, How research can improve policy and other responses to AOD: What have we learned, they reflected on how the policy and practice landscape has evolved and shared lessons to inform how we can navigate emerging and future challenges.
The seminar was one of several recent events where sister national research centres NDRI and NDARC collaborated to share research insights and findings, including:
- NDRI’s Shelley Walker and Michael Curtis presenting along with NDARC’s Rebecca McKetin on ‘Criminalisation vs Care: Experiences and responses to methamphetamine use in Australia’ as part of the NDRI Webinar Series
- NDRI’s Dr Nic Taylor presenting on ‘Monitoring alcohol consumption in Australia: Moving towards best practice’ as part of the NDARC webinar series, and
- NDRI Associate Professor Michael Livingston participating as an expert panellist in a presentation for the NDARC webinar series on ‘Examining gender in alcohol research: Insights from a recent systematic review’ by Dr Megan Cook and Dr Sarah Callinan from the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research at La Trobe University.
