Using an AI chatbot to measure alcohol risk

Researchers at the National Drug Research Institute are seeking participants for innovative research evaluating the capabilities of a chatbot to deliver health-related information.

The Alcohol and Drug Foundation developed the dib chatbot for its website to allow people to screen for their own alcohol-related risk.

NDRI researchers are inviting anybody who drinks alcohol to complete a short questionnaire using the chatbot.

The Healthway-funded research has been approved by the Curtin Human Research Ethics Committee (HR2025-0602).
