Senior NDRI researchers provide expert advice on international drug policy

NDRI Director Professor Paul Griffiths was an invited expert participant in the European Union Drugs Agency ‘Technology Foresight in the Drugs Field’ international consultation, held in Portugal in February.
Part of a project mapping and assessing emerging challenges and opportunities for innovative responses created by new technologies, the aim was to provide actionable recommendations for policymaking, research and practice in the drugs area.
It follows NDRI Emeritus Professor Steve Allsop becoming the first person from outside the UK to be appointed to the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, which provides recommendations to government on the control of dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs. Appointments are usually made by the UK Home Secretary for 3 years.
