Project description: 

This project is a retrospective study of all cases in Australia in which barbiturates use was a mechanism contributory to death.

The study aims to:

  • Determine the characteristics, and circumstances of death, of all recorded cases of barbiturate-related death in Australia;
  • Determine the toxicology of such deaths; and
  • Determine the major organ pathology of cases.
