Reducing harm from nitrous oxide use

May 2021
Project description:

NDRI’s Dr Jodie Grigg was invited to be part of a grant application for National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED) Seed Funding for a proposed project titled ‘Reducing the risk of harm associated with nitrous oxide (N2O) use via a novel intervention disseminated in primary care settings in Western Australia.’

The project involves a unique collaboration of researchers and experts from NDRI, Curtin University, the Mental Health Commission, Next Step Drug and Alcohol Services, and Fiona Stanley Hospital. If successful, Jodie will provide drug harm minimisation expertise to the project and contribute to the development and piloting of the N2O resource.

Jodie is a member of the Early Warning System Nitrous Oxide Sub-Group, formed following the release of a 2020 WA EDRS bulletin outlining increasing trends in nitrous oxide use (pictured).
