The NCETA team recently welcomed Dr Neophytos Georgiou, also known as Neo, who joins us as a Research Fellow. Neo brings a wealth of frontline experience in the field of alcohol and other drugs (AOD), gained through his work in both clinical and research settings.

Neo's professional journey has been diverse, with a focus on addiction and addressing misbeliefs. His roles have spanned various aspects of behavioural addiction, encompassing drug and alcohol (both as a counsellor and a researcher), gambling, cryptocurrency research and internet gaming disorder.

Neo dedicated his PhD research to exploring the role of misbeliefs and meta-cognition in the era of social media. His work focussed on why people embrace conspiracy theories and, more importantly, how psychological interventions can be used to address these problematic beliefs and their consequences.

We are excited to welcome Neo to NCETA, where his passion for research and dedication to making a difference in the area of addiction will contribute to the ongoing success of our team.
