New psychoactive substances in Australia: Who uses them, how prevalent are they, and where are they sourced?

To date, approximately 900 new psychoactive substances (NPS) have been identified by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. In this article, NDARC’s Dr Rachel Sutherland provides an in-depth overview of NPS in Australia that covers what they are, who uses them and which specific NPS are being consumed.

Beyond ‘pill testing’: Calling for appropriate event health care services at music festivals

“The ‘pill testing’ debate in Australia has been shown to be a political minefield with governments on both sides of the political divide seeming to box themselves into positions which are at odds with the evidence and advocates alike.” In this opinion piece, NDRI’s Professor Simon Lenton suggests broadening the debate to move past the political stalemate.

Northern Territory Alcohol and Other Drug Workforce Development Strategic Framework now available

Building on its extensive alcohol and other drugs (AOD) workforce development (WFD) program of work, NCETA was commissioned by the Northern Territory Primary Health Network to develop a five-year AOD WFD Strategic Framework for the Northern Territory.
