This paper examined how declines in youth drinking fit into other youth behaviour. It found that risky behaviours like crime, risky driving or substance use had all declined but broader health behaviours around exercise and diet for example hadn’t changed or were moving in the ‘wrong’ direction. It concluded that declines were not simply because young people were ‘healthier’ but broader factors wider than just alcohol consumption were at play.
