Project description:

NCETA is working with NADA to develop a core capability/competency framework for the AOD community-based sector in New South Wales. The development of the framework is a key activity in the NADA Workforce Development (WFD) Plan 2016-2019:

  • Key Direction 2: Enhance workforce sustainability and adaptability by defining core workforce competencies (i.e. the knowledge, skills and attributes that are needed by staff across the sector to deliver evidence-based care) in collaboration with the sector and cross-sector partners.

NCETA also played a key role in supporting NADA to develop its WFD Plan and the current project extends the ongoing collaboration between the two organisations.

The current project seeks to identify the knowledge, skills and attributes that are essential for working in the community based AOD sector in NSW. It builds upon New Zealand’s Let’s get real framework which supports then mental and AOD workforces to develop the appropriate knowledge, skills, values and attributes irrespective of their role, discipline, type of organisation they work for, or population group that they work with.

In undertaking this project, NCETA conducted a consultation workshop with NADA members.

The outcomes of the consultation workshop will be used by NCETA to assist NADA develop the framework for the NSW NGO AOD sector.
