Recent updates to the National Alcohol and Drug Knowledgebase

February 2020

The National Alcohol and other Drug Knowledgebase (NADK), Australia’s most comprehensive one-stop source of information about alcohol and other drugs (AOD) has recently undergone a comprehensive updating process.

The NADK now includes the latest available information on alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine, and pharmaceutical drug use in Australia.

Managed by NCETA, the NADK provides accurate and easy-to-understand information about AOD and features a series of frequently asked questions (FAQs) which present data in an easily understood manner.

Over 80 FAQs were recently updated to ensure that the NADK website continues to provide only the most recent, relevant, and reliable data on AOD consumption patterns in Australia.

The following data sources were utilised in the latest round of updates:

  • National Hospital Morbidity Database
  • Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Services National Minimum Dataset
  • Australian Secondary Students Alcohol and Drug Survey
  • Illicit Drug Data Report.

In addition, four new FAQs have been added which address the level of alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine and pharmaceutical drugs in Australian wastewater.

NCETA will continue to update the NADK a rolling basis as new sources of data become available. The NADK website can be accessed here.
