APSAD workshops on preventing opioid overdose deaths

October 2015

On Sunday 8th November the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs (APSAD) will be hosting two pre-APSAD conference workshops in Perth on preventing opioid overdose deaths.

Kirsten Horsburgh, the National Naloxone Coordinator with the Scottish Drugs Forum will be leading the first workshop, covering drug-related deaths in Scotland, overdose prevention key messages, overdose identification and intervention, naloxone key messages, and Scotland’s national naloxone program.

The second workshop will explore a range of top-down and bottom-up approaches to opioid overdose based on the collaborative model utilised in Western Australia, and will be conducted by the WA Substance Users Association and the WA Mental Health Commission.
